Performances and guest performances

The folk dance ensemble commenced with the first public folk dance performances as a part of national ceremonies at the beginning of 1950's which was followed by performances on home stages, together with first guest performances and competitions in Italy, Belgium and France.

In the following decade, the Folk dance ensemble was performing throughout England, Italy, Bulgaria and Belgium. The hopes and wishes of the generations of that time came to realization in 1982 when the Folk dance ensemble "Jedinstvo" left for 45 - day tour to USA and Mexico where they performed on the stages of Chicago, Knoxville, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, Santa Fe, San Francisco, Los Angeles etc.

After this big tour, the new generation takes its place, but they continue to improve themselves strongly. They were attending many competitions in Greece, Italy, Turkey and France, which brought us many awards.

In 1986, the mandolin - vocal choir receives an invitation from our Australian immigrants and leaves for Sidney and Melbourne for a 3 - week long tour.
On the folk dance festival in Seoul in 1990, Folk dance ensemble "Jedinstvo" was one of the few ensembles to represent Europe in South Korea. During the tour, "Jedinstvo" performed alongside 9 other ensembles in Seoul, Pusan and Ta Gu.

In the last decade of the twentieth century, the Folk dance ensemble was performing in Denmark, England, Belgium, Netherlands and South Africa.

The beginning of the new century has not brought great changes. We are still performing and attending competitions in Spain, Austria and Italy.

In the 2004. "Jedinstvo" brought to Split the first prize from the international festival "Music World" in Fivizzano, Italy, also 2005. represented Croatia on "Europäische Jugendwochen" in Ludwigstein, Germany, on "Mediteranee en Fete" in the French town of Vierzon, on the presentation of the city of Split in Ancona and also on the Folklore festival "Turgutreis" (Bodrum) in Turkey.

In 2006, we had 9 concerts on World Tourism Fair in Dresden, Germany where we had 9 concerts, on the Festival of Folk dance in Petina, Italy, Festival of Folk dance in St. Girons - France, and in our country we would like to single out the concerts on the annual meeting of German Tour operator Association - RDA in Zadar, a concert for French international corporation "Vinci Group" in Split, a concert on a cruiser "Club Med2" and a spectacular concert "Ne damo te pismo nasa" on the stadium in Split , with the audience of 20 000 people. We also did every week performances for the guests of "Bluesun" group in the hotels "Maestral" in Brela and "Alga" in Tucepi.

In 2007 we participated in three international folklore festivals under the sponsorship of CIOFF: Odoorn / Holland, Wewelsburg / Germany, Agrigento / Italy. During the summer months, apart from the regular weekly performances in the hotels in Brela and Tucepi, in the cellars of Diocletian's Palace and on a cruiser yacht ''Athena'', we found time for the occasional performances on the squares and plazas of Baska Voda, Stari Grad on the island of Hvar and Selca on the island of Brac. Home and foreign tourists as well as the performers equally enjoyed these all-evening concerts, which took place in the historical centres of these towns.

It is important to point out that accepting the invitation of the Croatian National Theatre from Split our folklore ensemble gave a performance in the final wheel dance of an opera ''Ero s onoga svijeta''. The opera was performed in Vrlika, in the authentic environment of Dalmatinska Zagora, as a part of a cultural manifestation ''Split Summer''-2007.

In 2008 we have continued our collaboration with the Bluesun hotel Alga in Tucepi, HNK Split (Croatian national theatre of Split), and cruise yachts and with the tourist boards of Split, Jelsa, Stari Grad and Vodice. We have performed ninety evening concerts of Croatian folklore for their guests.

In 2008. we participated in two international folklore festivals. In June we took part in the "Budvansko ljeto" (Summer of Budva), in Budva (Montenegro) and in August performed at the "Kulturpark" festival in Izmir (Turkey). In July, we participated in the largest marine and sea festival in Brest (France) where we performed a folklore programme every day and presented Croatia. The arrival of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesic, shows how important this festival is.

In November, with the delegation of Split and of the Croatian - German friendship led by the Mayor of Split, Mr. Ivan Kuret, we were guests in Berlin (Germany) at the "500 years of Marko Marulic" event where we represented to the delegation from Split and to the town-friendship district Wilmersdorf - Berlin, our customs, dances and music which everyone present enjoyed and they sang along with us.
