Folk dance ensemble ”Jedinstvo” from Split, formed in 1919, is one of the oldest and most awarded Folk dance ensembles in Croatia.
At the beginning of 1950's inside the Folk dance ensemble a folklore section, from which today's ensemble is made, was formed. Due to the quality of their performances, numerous guest performances were realized on the stages of many European cities, just like on the stages of North America, Australia, Africa and Asia.
Through the past decades, “Jedinstvo” has often been awarded with trophies from the world's greatest folklore shows and festivals.
Attending Folklore Olympic Games in Dijon, France in 1989, the Folk dance ensemble won the audience Grand Prix, and on the festival in Llangollen, Great Britain in 1992, in those heavy times for our country, our flag was proudly lifted on the winner's throne.
The ensemble was awarded for their work with the Emblem of the city of Split, Split – Dalmatia County award and the Bull of the President of Republic of Croatia.
These days, Folk dance ensemble has 400 members, divided into dance ensemble, mixed folklore choir, mandolin and tambura orchestra, together with the school of dance, mandolin and guitar and the veteran club.
